This was a lovely kitchen project to be involved in

This was a lovely kitchen project to be involved in, a new build in a pretty village in Somerset, just 4 miles from our workshop. The room was flooded with natural light thanks to the bi-fold doors that lead from the kitchen to the garden, and this provided us with a perfect space to design this kitchen. The client’s brief was a warm and inviting kitchen for living and entertaining, to include a large island for kitchen prep, feature oven and glass display cabinets for an eclectic feel.

This being one of their deepest and richest reds

We decided to base the scheme around the burgundy enamel of the chosen Lacanche range cooker. The matching extractor emphasised the warm tone of the red, so we decided to contrast this on the perimeter run of cabinetry using Farrow & Ball elephants’ breath. This created a great back drop for Farrow & Balls Preference Red used on the island. This being one of their deepest and richest reds, a traditional baroque colour that we felt complimented the dramatic presence of the Lacanche. The chrome and stainless-steel details of the appliances cut through the warmth and add a contrast and a touch of commercialism really highlighting the appliances and the practical element that they bring to this charming, homely kitchen.
