The story of Eternal Kitchens began in 1993 when Stefan Elswood, who had a passion for joinery started making furniture and kitchens for local clients.
Stefan’s first workshop was based in an old pig shed on a farm in South Petherton, Somerset and after re-locating for several years, the business has come full circle and is back on the same site where it all started. Although the old farm building has now been replaced with an energy efficient purpose- built joinery workshop and kitchen studio.
Over the years other family members have joined the company, including Stefan’s son William and Eternal has grown into a thriving family business creating beautiful, bespoke kitchens.
30 Years of Craftsmanship
We pride ourselves on the quality of the cabinetry that we design and build. Our kitchens and furniture are made by our talented, specialist team in our workshop using traditional time-honoured methods. The drawers are made from solid oak and dovetail jointed. The door frames are made from maple or poplar and constructed with mortice and tenon joints and hung on high quality British made brass or steel hinges.
Each piece is then exquisitely hand finished on site to your specification, either spray painted, hand painted, oiled, or lacquered.
Our Green Commitment
We love living in Somerset and care deeply about our local environment, that’s why we are committed as a company to minimise our impact on the environment.
Sourcing responsibly
Where possible, we use locally sourced wood – for example our oak boules are supplied by a local company just 3 miles from our workshop. All our timber comes from suppliers who manage their forests responsibly and display the FSC trademark which means that wood is produced in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council.
Reducing Our Waste
We have installed a bio-mass boiler to heat our building and this is fuelled by wood waste and off-cuts from our workshop, which would normally go to landfill and to help with our electric consumption we installed PV panels. We are also proud of our small wooded area near the workshop, this was planted with approximately 200 poplar trees and is now home to deer, woodpeckers and birds of prey.
